Special Silica fiber Stainless steel in line filter plugs
These special silica fiber stainless steel in line filter plugs were designed and manufactured for some Scientific equipment enclosures. They had to use a silica fiber wad for filtration due to the process they were running. The plugs push into a fitting via the grooved end. We needed to design the filter so it had the 4 small slits on the sides as well as the open end to increase the flow potential.
Also the internal bore needed to be tapered to not restrict the gas flow and we needed to keep the wall thickness similar through the design so the outside was tapered as well.
Machined from stainless steel.
This image shows the slots in the sides of the conical stainless steel filter plug
A shot of the end of the filter plug showing the silica fiber wadding in place.
With a penny in the picture to give you a sense of scale.
